Is a Personal Identification Number (PIN) required to register for courses and how do I get one?
A PIN is required to register for courses in your book bag. You do not need a PIN to put courses in your alternate or primary book bag. Personal Identification Numbers are available from your advisor. Top

What are course permission numbers and how are they obtained?
Permission numbers are required to register for designated courses and can be obtained from Instructor or Department, as designated. Permission numbers are not required to put courses in your primary or alternate bookbag. Top

Are maximum course credit limits enforced by ACES Web?
You may add courses to your bookbag as long as the total number of credits is less than the maximum number of course credits you are allowed to take. You will only be able to register for courses in your bookbag. The maximum course credit limit is not enforced within your alternates, so you may add as many courses as you like to your alternates. Top

How many courses will the system allow me to place into my alternates?
You are limited to 25 courses. In most cases, it is unnecessary to place this many courses into your alternates. Top

Do wait listed courses count towards the maximum course credit limit?
Yes, if you successfully register for a course that has a waitlist then that course counts towards the total maximum credits you are permitted to register for. Top

Can I register for more than the maximum course credit limit?
If you wish to register for more courses than the maximum course limit allows you must see your academic dean. If your academic dean wishes to permit this over enrollment this will be noted in the system. Top

How do I register for courses in my bookbag?
Once your registration window opens, you must explicitly click the green plus sign next to the courses you want to register. Bookbags are provided as a convenience for students to do as much upfront planning as possible before their registration window opens. Make sure you have your Personal Identification Number (PIN) from your advisor and any course permission numbers you may require. Top

Under what circumstances will I not be able to register for courses in my bookbag?
You will not be able to register for courses in your bookbag, if:

  1. Your assigned registration window has not yet been opened.
  2. You have not obtained a Personal Identification Number (PIN) from your advisor.
  3. You have a hold attached to your student record because of an overdue balance, etc.
  4. If you have a hold on your student record that prevents you from registering for courses in you bookbag, ACES Web will print a message directing you to contact the appropriate department.

You will be able to put courses in both your bookbag and alternates even though you have a hold attached to your student record. Top

What is the purpose of the alternates?
The alternate bookbag is a time saving device in which you can store second and third choice courses in case your first choice is closed. If you are unable to register for one of the courses in your book bag because it has reached maximum enrollment capacity, then you can either quickly enroll for courses in your alternates or you can move courses from your alternates into your bookbag. Top

How are course time conflicts handled?
You cannot put courses that have time conflicts into your bookbag. If you attempt to put a course into your book bag that has a time conflict with either classes in your bookbag or classes in which you are already enrolled, you will receive a notification that this course has been placed into your alternates.
